Video Instructions

  • Please edit all video segments together in one video if possible. 
  • IPhone video recordings are acceptable, you may have to send via a link through YouTube, etc.
  • Set up your phone/device in landscape orientation, not portrait
  • Use sufficient lighting with non-incandescent, bright-white lighting if possible
  • Make sure the background and atmosphere of your video allows us to see & hear you clearly.
  • Provide a full body slate with your information
  • If you have previously played the role before, mention this also
  • Provide a monologue in the style of the show/character OR use the sides provided below for your video audition
  • Sing a song of your choice OR use the vocal sides and recordings provided.
  •  If you use the vocal sides, sing through them twice.  1.  In an “American” accent 2.  In a British accent/dialect.
  • You may include any other video/reel auditions that are relevant to this show or the upcoming season

Available Roles

Charlie Price
Late twenties to 30s – handsome & loveable.  A bit confused, a bit unfocused, a hero hiding under a victim’s mantle.  Just out of university, a really nice guy who has no clue what to do with the rest of his life.  Rock belt. Tenor.
Vocal range top: B4.
Vocal range bottom: C3.

Lola/Simon
Early 30’s, AfricanSe-American. Has the body of a boxer, with the soul of a Diva. A scene-stealing drag performer. Has a killer voice with power blues and gospel chops.  Lola dances in very high heels and so has to move well.  An incredible performer comfortable wearing everything from full glamour drag to nothing but boxing trunks. Emotionally and physically challenging role

Lauren
20s-30s. Beautiful and strong, working-class girl. She is smart and very funny. Belt and pop.
Mezzo-soprano.
Vocal range top: F#5.
Vocal range bottom: Bb3.

Nicola
20s-30s. Charlie’s girlfriend since school. Sophisticated looks. She is driven and uncompromising. Driven, uncompromising pop voice.
Vocal range top: Mezzo-soprano F#5. Vocal range bottom: Bb3.

Don 
20s to 40s – Lola’s nemesis. Handsome, burly, hyper masculine bear of a factory worker. Baritone. Vocal range top: F4 (falsetto to D5 for finale).  We encourage BIOPC submissions for this role.  Vocal range bottom: C3.

George
40s to 60s – Factory manager keeping up traditions. Reserved.
Vocal rang top: F4. Vocal range bottom: C3.

The Angels
These are drag performers who populate THE BLUE ANGEL NIGHTCLUB. This ain’t a job for no wallflowers. Big personality, great dancers, some singing, some speaking. Looking for a diverse group. Previous drag experience is helpful, but not required  Vocal range: Three Angels sing to C#5 and three sing to A4.

Female & Male Ensemble
Age: 18-60 – looking for a range of voices and types. Will play factory workers, hooligans, homeless people, pub patrons, photographers, and other roles.  Some featured singing and dancing. Some dialogue.
